Exhibition and performance in Brussels

A four-month long exhibition at the Musee de la Medecine. The Rocket Artists responsed to the theme of ‘bodies’ producing drawings from life and observation, and developing their ideas using printmaking, charcoal, paint, chalk, and ink.

Art Skills Training
Rocket Artists co-facilitate workshops

Rocket Artists undertook a four-week Art Skills Training programme working with Occupational Therapy students. Rocket Artists co-facilitated workshops in printmaking, felt-making, drawing and painting and casting.

The Rocket Artists worked with Anthony McIntosh, Researcher at University of Brighton (National Recording Project, Sussex) in a six-week project exploring public sculpture and monuments in and around Brighton.

Smudged
A performance at Tate Modern
May 2008
Smudged brought together the visual art practice of the Rocket Artists and performance skills of the Corali dancers. The performance was inspired by the Ideas and Objects collection at Tate Modern where the project took place.

The Overalls book
A blank canvas
Book available now
The project grew from an informal use of protective clothing – ordinary white overalls – by some participants in a2a sessions to record or collect images. Rocket Artists win awards
‘Outside In’ exhibition at Pallant House
August 2007
All eight of the Rocket Artists were selected for the group exhibition ‘Outside In’ at Pallant House in August 2007.
Four out of the six awards presented at ‘Outside In’ were awarded to Rocket Artists; Peter Cutts, Andrew Apicella, John Cull and Zoe Leonard. They will be taking up residencies at Pallant House with solo exhibitions in 2008.

Taking Off!
An exhibition of new artwork

The Rockets had their first major exhibition of artwork created specially for the Phoenix Gallery in Brighton. The exhibition of drawings, paintings, mono-prints, mixed media, photographs and installations was on for five weeks and was extremely successful.

Phoenix Open Studio
Public invited into the heart of the rockets
